Our experience with Cranbourne Equine Hospital -

Running a horse rescue program means that we need reliable and experienced vets on call at all hours of the day and night. We have been using Cranbourne Equine Hosptal for approx 10 years now and have found the service to be second to none. If you are looking for a reputable equine veterinary clinic to rely on - Cranbourne Equine Hosptal is it.

The team of vets have 'come to the rescue' for many of our horses over the years. Some of the cases have been quite complicated, but each and every time, we have found the treatments to be extremely effective and the results speak for themselves.

Below are some of the cases that have warranted Veterinary attention -

TIFFANY: an aged palomino pony mare was severely neglected and manlourished, as a result, she suffered a prolapsed rectum which required an after hours call out. Tiff also suffered horrific ulcers in her mouth from teeth that had not been seen to for many years. After treatment (outlined in 'Tiffany's Story") our little lady made a full recovery and has since been re-homed successfully.

Tiffany's dental issues were dealt with by Dr. Graham Jeffrey and her prolapse issue was treated by Dr. Tom Cook

MAISIE: A Clydesdale mare that was suffering from a CHRONIC case of pyometra (infected uterus) from careless previous owners attempting to breed her over and over without any success. Dr. Meredith McDonald was the vet who treated Maisie. After attempts with antibiotics, the infection was still raging - Meredith treated Maisie with a pretty 'out-there' technique which involved flushing her uterus with kerosene - amazingly this killed the infection and Maisie was able to finally be pain free.

LILLY: Our beautiful young clydesdale x standardbred filly suffered a horrific leg injury whilst in our care. The injury happened at the start of Sept 2006 and the treatment has been a very lengthy process. With the extraordinary veterinary advice from Dr. Graham Jeffrey, Lilly has made a full recovery and is blossoming into a stunning young horse. Lilly is now in the process of being broken in and is coming along superbly - no leg issues to date.

See page titled "Lilly's Story" for full details

BASIL: this poor old gentleman was showing signs of severe neglect. When Basil came into our care he was very thin and frail and had just about given up on life all together. Basils first week with us was quite caotic. We were feeding him very small amounts of plain grass hay to slowly get this digestive system going again and even though the hay was kept to a minimal, Basil came down with colic. As soon as Basil started showing signs, we called the vet for urgent assistance. Dr. Tom Cook came to the rescue that night and managed to give Basil some med's to calm things down and thankfully Basil pulled through and things just got better from there.

HONEY & TOFFEE: Throughout Honey's pregnancy, the vets at C.E.H have been wonderful with their ongoing assistance. When the birth presented as abnormal, a quick call to Dr. Meredith McDonald proved to be invaluable. Meredith's advice was spot on and thankfully Honey was able to deliver Toffee without too much distress . Once Meredith arrived at the scene, she was able to help with getting Toffee to feed, then took over her care providing a high level of care and ultimately saving our little girls life. After plasma transfers and countless other treatments, Toffee is now fighting fit and growing like crazy!

ROSIE: my beautiflul clydesdale x thoroughbred mare required attention for some sharp teeth and for a puss type smell coming from her nostril. The first port of call was to take her to CEH to get checked out. I'm sure she'll be good as new in no time.
