Kahlua spent approx 3 months at Balmoral Equestrian Centre where she was used as a fulltime school horse in the lesson program. She was ridden predominantly by the intermediate riders and up and did exceptionally well in the short time she was there. All the kids loved her and often requested to ride her over some of the others which doesnt surprise me as she's a great ride.
Unfortunately Kahlua wasn't fitting into the herd situation too well as the other ponies were bullying her a bit and would not let her get to the round bale of hay that was in the paddock so it was determined that it was not fair on her so a mutual decision was made that Kahlua should come home. (She was paddocked with about 15 other horses at the time).
Kahlua came home and spent about 3 months here with us doing trail riding and even competed in her first unofficial showjumping day where she did really well. She was calm and consistent all day and didnt put a foot wrong. We came home with an equal first in the 45cm showjumping round which was brilliant! All in all we had a great day and I think Kahlua really ejoyed getting out and competing, even if she was super tired at the end of the day!!
Kahlua is now on lease again with another riding school which is located on the mornington peninsula which means she's nice and close to home. She is being cared for by Fiona who runs Equine Magic - you can see the the website at www.equinemagic.com.au and soon there will some pics of Kahlua on here that Fiona is going to email through to us. Kahlua is kept with other horses so still enjoys the 'herd' environment but it isn't quite as big a herd as that of what she was in at Balmoral so she is a lot more comfortable in her surroundings.
Thanks to Fiona for offering Kahlua a great opportuntity to get lots of love and attention from some very lucky kiddies, I'm sure she's enjoying every minute of it :)
