Hope is looking for a new home - 9th Oct 06

Hope has come such a long way since arriving here with us. She has blossomed into a

lovely young filly and we feel she is now ready to start looking for a new home.

Hope is good to catch and handle and has a lovely quiet nature. She floats superbly

and has travelled in our open cage stock crate many times with trucks whizzing by

and she has never battered an eyelid.

We haven’t measured her so her height is just an estimate at this stage but I’d say

she’d stand about 14.1hh tall. She probably still has a bit of growing and filling out to

do. She is branded at a 2003 foal and we can only assume she was born late in 03 due

to her shape and size, so that would make her rising 3.

Home is much more important than money for this lovely little lady. We are asking

$250 as the adoption price for Hope.

Emma who is one of our primary carers here owns Hope.

Any enquiries are to be directed to Emma on 0433-558-217 or email: ivanandemma@iprimus.com.au

Poor Hope had lice - 7th Sept 2006

Poor Hope has been through a lot and to finish it off she got an acute case of lice. We attempted to treat

this with Gee-Whiz Insecticidal Block at first which normally has great results but as she had such an

intense case of it, the block wasn't tackling the lice hard enough. After consulting the vet we decided to use

"Tigavon". This is actually a lice treatment for cattle but it can be used off'-label for horses. It is a potent

substance though and its best to only use it in extreme cases like Hope's. Thankfully after her treatment

(10ml spread under her mane) the lice seem to have disappeared. Unfortunately I didn’t' think to take a

picture of the lice but it looked like little white dots all through her main and on her body.

She was extraordinarily itchy and had rubbed the hair off many parts of her body and in some sections she

has actually rubbed so bad that it had broken the skin. She had scabs everywhere and was a total mess. But!!

Thanks to Tigavon it all seems to be clearing up. She is no longer itching and the hair appears to be

growing back which is fabulous. She may require one last application in one week but so far so good.

Faith has been adopted - 22nd Aug 06

Our lovely little lady Faith has been adopted by Kylie from Kyes Rescue 4 Horses (link on our links page).

Kylie is going to continue with Faith's rehabilitation and care and I'm sure Faith will be in the best of hands with her.

17th August 2006 - WOW - What an improvement!!

Here are is a photo of the lovely "HOPE" taken - 13th Aug 2006 - Looking fabulous!!

Being just a young horse she has picked up in condition very quickly

And here is an updated picture of our little "FAITH" - fluffy as ever!!

As she is an older mare, its taking a bit longer for her condition to pick up but she's getting there

An out-of-towner drove his car into a ditch in an isolated area.

Luckily, a local farmer came to help with his big strong horse, named Buddy.

He hitched Buddy up to the car and yelled, "Pull, Nellie, pull!" Buddy didn't move.

Then the farmer hollered, "Pull, Buster, pull!" Buddy didn't respond.

Once more the farmer commanded, "Pull, Coco, pull!" Nothing.

Then the farmer nonchalantly said, "Pull, Buddy, pull!"

And the horse easily dragged the car out of the ditch.

The motorist was most appreciative and very curious.

He asked the farmer why he called his horse by the wrong name three times.

The farmer said -

"Oh, Buddy is blind and if he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn't even try."

6th July - Rugging Hope & Faith

We didn't think we had any rugs small enough for these 2 little darlings but decided to do a shed cleanout and "whalla" turns out we do

Hope is wearing a nice warm doona under rug with a canvas over top - when we first put in on her she was a little surprised and got a bit of

a fright, but once she realised it wasn't going to hurt her she was great, she just stood there like a complete lady. Even had a little nap while

we tugged and adjusted the straps to fit her perfectly. During all of this is was pelting with rain but she didn't care, she was just happy to be

fussed over.

Faith is the smaller of the 2. We managed to find a perfectly sized synthetic waterproof doona type rug for her too!! How great is that!!

Little Faith is an older girl so has seen it all, so the rug was nothing new to her. She stood like an angel while it was adjusted to fit her and

was more concerned about pointing her butt into the oncoming rain than anything we were doing with her

Both girls are feeling wonderful and are really starting to blossum. They have been sighted going for little 'hoons' around the paddock which

shows that they are much more energised than they were on arrival - And they are slowly gaining condition which is just fabulous!! And check

out the lush green grass they have in their paddock - Mmmmm......

Meet our latest rescue horses "HOPE" & "FAITH"

These poor darlings have seen it all. Both of these little girls are in awful conditon. They are extremely skinny to the point where you can see

and feel all of their bones. They have sunken necks and rumps, they are covered in rainscald, have numerous scratches and sores all over

them, dreadlocks in their manes and are both very "down" personality wise.

We have named these 2 sweethearts "Hope" & "Faith" as both horses have been rescued from deaths door and now have a new lease on life.

We can't wait to see how they progress, they are going to blossom into beautiful horses thats for sure. Hope (the bay) is only 2 years of age

but looks more like a weanling - she's been very malnourished and hasn't grown or filled out anywhere near as much as she should have. Faith

(the grey) is approximately 20 years of age but looks more like 40!! These poor darlings have been through the ringer, but all thats about to

change!
