Tonka is a 17hh White Clydesdale gelding with an outstanding nature. He is 8 years of age and a complete gentle giant. He is broken to saddle, and also single and double harness.
Tonka is an ex-riding school horse so is a real “been there, done that” type of horse. Most of his life was spent there being a safe mount for nervous riders to gain knowledge and confidence on. He has taught many people to ride and can be ridden by anyone of any level, from a raw beginner to an experienced rider - adult or child. He is gentle and kind and very willing. Tonka has a soft mouth and 3 awesome paces.
Tonka will do it all. We have taken him through the bush – which included up fairly hilly terrain and this big fella did really well, we saw kangaroo’s and he didn’t even blink an eye. He’s also done beach riding and road riding and will happily plod along in which ever direction you point him. Happy to plod along slowly for a beginner, but if you put an experienced person on him he will easily go for a bit of a hoon – definitely not a lazy horse when it comes to trail riding – he genuinely loves to go out.
He’s great to handle in all ways. Pleasure to catch – looooves a carrot!! Loads superbly onto a float. Can be a bit lazy with the farrier and will lean on them a bit when doing his backlegs. Stands still to be groomed and saddled and never gets pushy or nasty in any way.
Tonka truly is one in a million and this is a very heartbreaking and regretful sale, however he is not being ridden very much due to time restraints so its time to find someone who will love him as much as I do.
Comes with Australian made canvas rug (custom made for him) – its triple ripstop with blanket lining, shoulder gussets and 2 x belly surcingles. Fits him like a glove!! Will also come with his own spunky blue HUGE draft size halter.
